UPDATE: More info released on early morning Missoula RV fire

MISSOULA — UPDATE - Aug. 6, 2020 - 8:55 a.m.

We are learning more information about an early Thursday morning that closed down a section of East Broadway in Missoula.

The Missoula City Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at the Downtown Motel in the 500 block of East Broadway at 4:30 a.m.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find an RV that was fully involved and only six feet away from the motel, which is being renovated.

Fire officials report that several explosions resulted from the propane tanks inside the RV.

The fire did get under the shingles of the motel and crews had to open up the roof and extinguish a small fire.

Fire crews were called out early Thursday morning to an RV fire.

The Missoula City Fire Department responded to East Broadway in the area of the Downtown Motel at approximately 4:30 a.m.

The Missoula Police Department closed off East Broadway between Higgins and Madison streets as crews tackled the fire.

Three Type I firetrucks and one ladder truck were called to the scene.
