Marion Fire Department mourns loss of firefighter

UPDATE

KALISPELL – A Flathead Valley firefighter died Sunday morning in a freak accident in extreme Northwest Montana.

Tiffany Hamdan, a firefighter with the Marion fire department for four years, died after she was attempting to free a vehicle after it got stuck in the snow.

The accident happened Sunday at around 2:40 a.m. near Yaak in Lincoln County.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports the male driver attempted to rock the car back and forth out of the snow.  Hamdan was outside the vehicle and somehow slid under the vehicle and got trapped underneath.

Tmh MHP reports the cause of death is still under investigation and that the case has now been transferred over to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
