MISSOULA – A Missoula business was heavily damaged in a Wednesday evening fire.
The Missoula City Fire Department was called to an auto repair business in the 4700 block of Grant Creek Road shortly after 7 p.m.
City Battalion Chief Tony Cate says crews arrived to find heavy black smoke showing from the 3000-square-foot building.
Firefighters made initial entry through the office area and found high heat and very low visibility due to smoke with the fire appearing to be concentrated in the shop area, according to Cate.
MFD was able to force entry through overhead doors and two interior crews utilizing separate hose lines made entry and extinguished the fire. It took crews about an hour to completely put out the fire.
The fire resulted in significant loss to the structure and interior equipment with the losses estimated at over $100,000.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation at this time but appears to have originated in a vehicle parked inside the shop that had been recently under repair.
