Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth says she had a miscarriage

“Counting On” star Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth revealed Wednesday that she had a miscarriage in the second trimester of her pregnancy.

The 21-year-old and her husband went to the doctor for a 20-week ultrasound and gender reveal, only to learn that there was no fetal heartbeat or movement, Joy-Anna and Austin Forsyth wrote on Instagram.

“Although we don’t understand why, God has given us unexplainable peace and comfort during this very difficult time. Yes, it still hurts and we have cried countless tears, but we know that we can trust the Lord,” the couple wrote.

The two decided to name the baby Annabell Elise.

“Annabell means ‘God has favored me’, and Elise means ‘God satisfies’. What a precious thing to know that when our daughter opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was the face of Jesus.”

The two both appear on the “Counting On” reality show, which follows the oldest of the 19 Duggar children as they embark on adulthood and start their own families, TLC said.

The Forsyths, who were childhood friends, have a 1-year-old son named Gideon and announced in May that they were expecting their second child.
