After resisting the streaming trend for years, Tool is finally caving in and releasing their entire catalog for digital distribution.
Starting this Friday, August 2, you can stream “Opiate,” “Undertow,” “Ænima,” “Lateralus” and “10,000 Days.”
Formed in 1990, much of Tool’s music can only be found on CD, vinyl and cassette tape. People have called on the band to go digital for years, so this is welcome news for fans of the alt-metal band.
While the band has not announced which platforms would be getting its catalog, the Instagram post did say that it would go up on “all digital and streaming formats.”
This should ramp up excitement for Tool’s first new album in 13 years. The band took to Instagram today to announce that “Fear Inoculum” will be released on August 30.
Rumors of a new album along with constant delays have plagued the band for years, and the timing of its decision to finally enter the streaming age is perfectly timed to allow fans to stream its music in anticipation for the new album.
It was only a matter of time before Tool finally gave in and went digital. In recent years, music giants such as The Beatles, Radiohead and Prince embraced streaming.
