MISSOULA – It’s a popular summer tradition in Missoula.

The Missoula City Band has been performing for the community every summer for over 100 years.

The held their first performance of the summer in Bonner Park on Wednesday evening. They play swing, country, pop and more — and aim to have something for everyone.

The people who volunteer are excited about carrying on this tradition.

“It’s a bit of small-town Americana that existed all over the country 100 years ago and now just in only a few places,” band director Gary Gillett.

“And we’re lucky enough to have the support and the interest and the musicians willing to give up their time to make music,” he added.

The concerts start at 8 p.m. every Wednesday until August 14.
