MISSOULA — All month long we’ve been telling you about how you can contribute to the annual KPAX First Security Bank Holiday Food Drive.
Jessica Allred of the Missoula Food Bank, Hattie Redmon from Jackson Contractor Group, Scott Burke of First Security Bank, and Bob Hermes from KPAX all joined us on Facebook Monday evening to discuss hunger in our community.
Jackson Contractor Group has been a longtime supporter of the food bank including helping to launch Missoula Under Construction which is a major summer fundraiser. Meanwhile, KPAX and First Security Bank have teamed up for years to help collect food and raise money to keep our neighbors fed.
"It's an amazing place and I don't care what the need is, it just seems that our community finds a way to step up time after time after time,” Frist Security Bank President and CEO Scott Burke said. “It's so refreshing to raise a family when you have others around you that are so caring."
Once again Missoula stepped up with contributions of $2,715. Additionally, PayneWest has agreed to match all contributions up to $75,000 for the remainder of the year, which turned all of your donations into $5,430.
But the fight isn’t over, you can still drop off your non-perishable food items at any First Security Bank location or contribute online here.
The Montana Food Back Network reports that approximately 10% of Montanans struggle with hunger -- a problem only made worse by COVID-19.
