ARLEE – Arlee Elementary teacher Amy Bartels is looking to make additions to the sound of music that already fills her classroom.

Bartels says that, as the school’s music and art teacher, she wants to make sure she supplies her young students with a wide variety of instruments. She says this will create more opportunities for them as they get older.

At the top of Bartels‘ list are drums, clackers, maracas and tambourines.

Bartels is this weeks winner of a $250 One Class at a Time grant sponsored by Republic Services and KPAX-TV.

“They may be able to choose an instrument too, later on in the 4th grade when they provide band and choir and all of our different programs, and hopefully can decide what they want to do,” Bartels said.
