MISSOULA – Sentinel High School English Teacher Renee Connor, is looking for additional student-centric works of literature and film for her classroom.
Connor says she allows her students the opportunity to choose what they study and read with certain limitations and standards. She feels this keeps her students more engaged in the classroom.
She says the more literary works they have, the better participation, understanding and appreciation they have.
Connor is this week’s Republic Services and KPAX-TV’s One Class At A Time winner. KPAX-TV General Manager Bob Hermes presented Connor with a $250 check to help purchase the materials for her classroom.
“If I can combine contemporary literature with modern literature, then what I get is a classroom and an environment where students are more engaged. It’s more relevant and therefore more effective,” Connor says.
