MISSOULA – This week’s One Class at a Time winner is Washington Middle School teacher Meghan Squires.
KPAX-TV General Manager Bob Hermes and Republic Services Marketing Manager Chad Bauer presented Squires with a $250 check which will be used to purchase chimes for each classroom.
This is part of Washington Middle School’s recently-introduced social/emotional curriculum.
Squires says the goal is to build skills for self-regulation, dealing with stress and anxiety and the ability to feel focused and ready to learn.
“The chimes we purchased are used to signal kids that they’re going to take a brain break and practice some mindful awareness, some mindful breathing, helps them be in the present moment and ready to learn,” Squires said.
