One Class at a Time: Hawthorne Elementary School

MISSOULA – This week’s One Class at a Time award winner is Hawthorne Elementary teacher Morgan Loya.

KPAX-TV General Manager Bob Hermes and Republic Services Marketing Manager Chad Bauer presented Loya with a $250 check.

Loya is going to use the money to purchase books for her classroom library. She says her students tackle her books quickly, so she’s always looking to replenish her stock.

Because of the variety of reading levels, she allows her students to have a say in what books she buys which helps cater to each individual reader’s needs.

“They’re the ones that get to pick the books,” Loya said. “I’m going to have them help me pick the books which helps make my library more appealing. That’s really a big part of it. I’m picking books that they are interested in.”
