One Class at a Time: Hellgate Elementary

MISSOULA – This week’s One Class at a Time winner is Hellgate Elementary first grade teacher Amanda Happney.

Republic Services Municipal Manager Chad Bauer and KPAX-TV General Manager Bob Hermes awarded Happney the $250 check.

Happney and the rest of the first grade team are using the money to build and fill their bins providing students more opportunities to develop their critical thinking skills. She says this this will help her young students across all subject areas both now, and in years to come.

“My hope is, by having more project-based, play-based learning that they can develop those critical thinking skills on their own without me having to give them, and that they take them and apply those skills outside the classroom as they grow, or even at the first grade level.”
