CORVALLIS – This week’s One Class at Time grant winner is using her award to help her work with students individually as well as small groups.

Corvallis Primary School first grade teacher Kyla O’Brien received a $250 check, thanks to Republic Services and KPAX-TV, which will be used to purchase a kidney-shaped table.

She says these tables will allow her students to sit more comfortably while learning in a small group setting. The table will be used for reading and math assignments.

O’Brien says other classrooms have the table and it helps younger students focus.

“I’m able to more focus with those students individually and help them with their work, being next to them or across from them, and so this table, the way it’s shaped it allows it to be done easier than a round table or a square table.”
