One Class at a Time: Woodman School

Posted

LOLO – This week’s Republic Services and KPAX-TV  One Class at a Time grant winner comes from Woodman School west of Lolo.

Katie Wickham — who was awarded a $250 check by Republic Services Manager Chad Bauer — is using the money to purchase flexible seating for her sixth through eighth grade students.

She says many of her students benefit from seating that allows them to move around as opposed to the hard-back chairs that are currently used in her classroom.

Items that will be purchased include floor-level cushions, cushion stools, and taller chairs that can be leaned on, all with the goal of increasing effort in the classroom.

“For some of them, it’s good where they can stand and move their feet a little bit, or for some kids, they are more productive when they lay on the floor, and I just hope that they are taking ownership and that they are able to retain more when they are in a more comfortable position,” Wickham said.
