This week’s One Class at a Time winner is Plains Elementary 5th grade teacher Maria Errecart.
Errecart was awarded a $250 grant thanks to Republic Services and KPAX-TV. She will use the money to purchase several pieces of equipment, including kickballs, jump ropes, air pumps for the classroom and soccer balls, as well as bins to store them.
Errecart says the time her students have outdoors is limited, and she want them to make the most of this time.
“We have a big bin out there full of equipment, but to find the right ball or to find the right jump rope is hard and they end up wasting their short little 10-minute recess looking for equipment rather than outside playing like they should be,” Errecart said.
