MISSOULA — This week’s One Class at a Time Winner is Washington Middle School sixth grade teacher Jessica Patton.
KPAX-TV General Manager Bob Hermes presented Patton the Republic Services and KPAX-TV sponsored $250 check. Patton says her science class spends much of their class time on hands-on experiments and labs.
She says classroom projects require a lot of materials, and those materials don’t come cheap. The projects include, building volcanoes, earth layers, and earthquakes, and this money will help her get necessary items to complete those projects.
“Students learn best when it’s hands-on,” Patton said. “They’re engaged, they remember it more if it sticks with them more, and so I really hope that with all these new lab materials and project materials that they’ll remember what they did and what they made, and what they created in this class.”
