MISSOULA — Our first winner of a Republic Services and KPAX-TV One Class at a Time grant is Franklin Elementary School first grade teacher Caitlin Clute.
Clute was chosen to receive the $250 grant which will go toward bolstering her classroom library. In just her second year of teaching, Clute says she is in need of books that meet the variety of interests her students have.
The award will allow her to purchase over 100 books across a range of topics. Clute says a particular area of interest that her students are already showing is science.
“I have found already that students are really loving -- animals are a big interest for this age group, science exploration, space is covered in our current curriculum…that we get to talk about the moon in first grade," Chute said.
