MISSOULA — This week’s One Class at a Time winner is Hellgate Elementary School Occupational Therapist Riccardo Pirrone.

Republic Services Municipal Manager Chad Bauer presented Pirrone with a $250 check which will be used to add a climbing wall to the school’s Sensory Room.

The room already has several tools available to students that provide stimulation before the go into the classroom setting. Pirrone says the addition of a climbing wall will give students an additional outlet to get their sensory stimulation to facilitate focus.

“If a child comes in and gets a certain number of activities for a certain amount of time in these specific sensory systems, then they should be able to go back to the classroom and be a little more focused than they were before," Pirrone explained.
