MISSOULA — Our latest winner of a KPAX-TV and Republic Services One Class at a Time grant is Meadow Hill Middle School eighth grade science teacher Don Griffith.
KPAX-TV General Manager Bob Hermes and Republic Services Municipal Manager Chad Bauer presented Griffith with a $250 check which will be used to purchase supplies for classroom experiments.
Griffith’s main ingredient in science projects is often sweet treats like chocolate, marshmallows, and Life Savers. He finds his students enjoy projects they can later consume. This, of course, means many of his supplies are consumed, and not reused.
“We try to do a lot of hands-on chemistry and physics. This grant is going to tremendously help us for the next two or three years in making sure that we have all of the supplies that normally we just take it out of pocket," Griffith said.
