MISSOULA — Paxson Elementary School second grade teacher Wendy Lofthouse is this week’s winner of a Republic Services and KPAX-TV One Class at a Time grant.
Republic Services Municipal Manager Chad Bauer, presented Lofthouse with a $250 check which will be used for flexible lighting for her classroom.
She says creating a comfortable and homey setting for her students allows them the opportunity to become more creative. The flexible lighting will add to the atmosphere Lofthouse already creates with soft, calming music, and dimmed lighting,
“You know, it just creates a nurturing environment where they can really dive into books and into their writing," Lofthouse said. And I think when we have a kiddo who is engaged in reading and writing, we have kiddos who’s scores flourish as well as their love for school and their love for learning.”
