MISSOULA — Paxson School librarian Nancy Peterson is this week’s winner of a KPAX-TV and Republic Services One Class at a Time grant.
Republic Services Municipal Manager Chad Bauer presented Peterson with a $250 check that will be used to buy books, and their audio book counterparts, for students.
Peterson says she is always looking for ways to promote reading, and providing the ability to read and listen to a book at the same time motivates reading fluency, builds vocabulary, and increases comprehension at a quicker pace.
"As students listen to professional voice actors reading the text on the device, then they can follow along with a print copy and this makes reading multi-sensory,” Peterson said.
