MISSOULA — Sentinel High School AP Drawing and Intro to Art teacher Nichole Whitescarver is this week’s One Class at a Time grant winner.

KPAX-TV General Manager Bob Hermes and Republic Service’s Municipal Manager Chad Bauer presented Whitescarver with a $250 check which will be used to purchase equipment which will facilitate more creativity and student interaction.

This includes big classroom tables for project-based learning and a giant chalkboard where students can share and demonstrate their work. Whitescarver says she believes this more open classroom setting will create a comfortable, creative and expressive feel to her art room.

“Right now, it’s kind of challenging to have them in little individual rows. It’s really exciting to be able to work together and see each other’s art and to see the examples in a more collaborative environment,” Whitescarver said.
