MISSOULA — Sentinel High School Advanced Placement US History teacher Jena Burke is this week’s Republic Services and KPAX-TV’s One Class at a Time grant winner.
Burke will use the $250 grant toward the purchase of review materials as her students prepare for the end of the year exam in June. Those include online activities and review packets.
She says the hybrid model of learning has limited the valuable face-to-face time her students normally have, and she’s worried that the long gaps between sessions -- as well as less time in the room -- makes it much easier to forget material the learned early in the school year.
“There’s the less time face-to-face, but there’s also larger gaps between when I see students and this class is a hard class to get through all the curriculum under normal circumstances and it’s a lot of very detailed information,” Burke explained.
