MISSOULA — This week’s KPAX and Republic Services One Class at a Time grant winner is using the money to buy seating she hopes will help keep her students engaged.
Republic Services Chad Bauer and KPAX General Manager Bob Hermes awarded Washington Middle School sixth grade teacher Lissa Olinger a $250 grant.
The money will be used to purchase wobble seating. Olinger says "focus" can become an issue in the classroom for students so giving students the ability to move in their seat will help.
"Students are sitting in class for two to two-and-a-half-hour chunks of time, and that’s difficult for anyone to do and stay focused so these wobble chairs hopefully will give them an opportunity to move and wiggle without distracting their peers,” Olinger said.
