MISSOULA — June is Pride Month, and the LGBT community in Missoula is looking for ways to celebrate.

The Western Montana Community Center is closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but still trying to offer support.

The Center has given out almost 600 rainbow colored masks, to protect against the virus, and homophobia.

Andy Nelson with the center said one way to celebrate pride this month, is to learn about how it started.

"Pride does not necessarily have a glamorous history. It's not all rainbows and parades. It actually started as a riot. And I think it kind of reflects on the times we're living in."

Nelson adds the Center is raffling off items from local businesses as a way to give back.
