GREAT FALLS — The Salvation Army is in great need of volunteers as we move closer to the holidays as the organization been busy getting donations for this holiday season.

“Well, our biggest need at the moment is for volunteers. We have several locations during the week all around town,” said Captain Mark King. “In deep need of having volunteers that man them and collect donations on our behalf”.

The Salvation Army also employs bell ringers during the holidays, but not everybody agrees with it.

“There are all of folks who may not agree with the fact that we hire, or recognize that we hire. But we are doing two things. First off, [we are] all raising money in the community to give right back in the community,” King explained. And we are helping those folks who need a little extra during the holiday season to raise some money for their families or maybe just to get by”.

One of those employees is Anthony who is blind and his teacher, Kelly Olson, is happy to see him out and about, "we are just so proud of him. He’s a wonderful, wonderful person and it’s nice to see him out in the community."

But Anthony is hoping to get only real thing out of his employment, “a real work experience…we are getting out in the community and doing all kinds of activity and we really appreciate being here.”
