KALISPELL – Drug use is on the rise and law enforcement officers on the Flathead County Drug Task Force are working hard to keep our communities safe.
Sgt. Mark Mulcahy says the amount of drugs seized in the Flathead over the past few years has doubled, with about 40 pounds of meth seized last year alone.
Mulcahy says it’s a team effort to take these drugs off the streets and six different drug task force teams work together across the state to share resources and knowledge.
One resource they commonly use is confidential informants who find out specifics on where drugs are being trafficked.
Mulcahy has some advice for parents if you’re concerned that your child is using drugs.
“Pipes are usually clear glass, and the end of the pipe will be burned and tin foil and then just their attitude and change in personality and poor grades at school,” he explained.
