KALISPELL – A 9% increase in call volume since 2018 has the Kalispell Police Department looking for more officers.

Kalispell Police Department Patrol Sergeant Jordan Venezio says KPD is a unique place to work. He says that KPD responds to things like crashes and robberies but they also responds to social and mental health calls.

Sergeant Venezio says this variety is his favorite part of the job.

Unlike some others, he tells us he fell into police work a litter later in life, after college and loves what the job has to offer.

“My favorite part of the job is the variety of different things we get to do. So, every day we show up it’s something different. You’ll never know what you’ll respond to and we get addresses and names and we respond and try and solve the problems,” said Venezio.

However, the process to become an officer is rigorous. Once you apply a background check performed and physical, written and oral tests are given. If you pass those you’re required to do specific field training.

If you’re interested in applying Sergeant Venezio suggests bringing all your unique life experiences — you never know where they may come in handy.

Kalispell PPD offers competitive pay, 100% paid health insurance for employees and dependents, three weeks vacation, paid sick leave and 10 state and federal holidays.

You must be 18 years or older to apply, posses a high school diploma or equivalent and be a US citizen with a valid drivers license.
