MISSOULA — Today will be the hottest day of the week. A typical mid-summer, strong upper level ridge will help drive temperatures above normal. We’ll see abundant sunshine from start to finish and temperatures will warm quickly, surging into the upper 80s to middle 90s.

A cold front will approach the region on Thursday morning, and pass through the area during the afternoon hours. This frontal passage will bring windy conditions, an increase in clouds, and a chance of a few scattered showers and storms.

Temperatures will warm quickly ahead of the front with a southwest flow but will top out earlier in the afternoon. Most will see highs ranging from the middle 80s to lower 90s.

Temperatures will be significantly cooler behind the front, which means we’re in store for below-average temperatures Friday through Sunday. Friday will be pleasant, with afternoon highs climbing into the middle 70s to 80 under a sunny sky.

Saturday and Sunday will bring a mostly sunny to clear sky with highs reaching the upper 70s to middle 80s on Saturday, and upper 70s to middle 80s on Sunday.
