SUPERIOR — Mineral County held a free community COVID-19 snapshot testing event Monday and Tuesday at four Mineral County locations including Superior, Alberton, St Regis, and DeBorgia.
A steady stream of asymptomatic, front-line workers waited their turn to receive a free test.
Thanks to Mineral County’s designation as one of 20 counties across the state as high-visitation communities by Gov. Steve Bullock, plenty of tests were available, and will continue to be available for those not showing signs of the virus.
On Monday, 113 tests were taken, and as of noon Tuesday, over 200 more community members were tested. So far, Mineral County has not had a positive COVID-19 test.
Community Health Specialist for the Mineral County Health Department, Amy Lommen, says they are working hard to make sure all county residents have access to testing.
“We’re trying to figure out how to be in different communities, because we understand that travel access is a barrier for people getting tested, so we’re trying to meet people where they’re at," Lommen said. "We’re trying to be able to provide these weekly in all of our designated communities from here on out.”
Testing is available and encouraged for all community members. More information can be found at the Mineral County Facebook page.
