Frenchtown High School Life Skills students are making an impact in the community in a variety of ways.
They work with several local non-profit organizations using their unique talents to enhance the organizations they donate their time to. Teacher Bill Boudreaux says each student has their own niche — for some it’s organizational skills, for others it’s visual.
Their next project is sewing pillowcases which will be donated to the “Backpack For Kids” Program. But they’re just missing one thing — a sewing machine.
Thanks to Republic Services and KPAX-TV the program is receiving a $250 check as this week’s One Class at a Time winner. Republic Services Marketing Manager Chad Bauer presented Boudreaux with the award.
“We work with a lot of nonprofits for job experience type skills where the kids will go out in the community and volunteer at the food bank or they’ll go to the nursing home and volunteer with the residents there," Boudreaux ? said.
