MT Dept. of Labor & Industry launches new travel agent apprenticeship

Posted

HELENA – The Travel Café Group has partnered with the Montana Department of Labor & Industry (MTDLI) to launch the state’s first Travel Agent registered apprenticeship.

Working with the Montana Registered Apprenticeship program through the Montana Department of Labor & Industry, Travel Café Group will be the first business to implement the new travel agent apprenticeship.

The apprentice will participate in both 2,000 hours of on-the-job training, along with classroom learning through Rejuvia Travel School. After completing their training program, the apprentice will receive a nationally recognized industry credential.

For Travel Café Group President Billie Ruff, this new apprenticeship will help train workers with the specific skills their business needs to grow and expand their operations.

“The role of a travel agent has changed tremendously from the days of issuing airline tickets to creating customized global experiences for today’s travelers. This is a great opportunity as a career path for many. Our plan is to expand this program throughout Montana” said Travel Café Group President Billie Ruff.

“This new travel agent apprenticeship is one of the many employment training programs offered through the Department of Labor & Industry putting Montanans to work,” said Commissioner Galen Hollenbaugh. “With this and other workforce opportunities, we are making sure businesses have the highly-skilled workers they need to grow and expand their operations.”
