MISSOULA – A man accused of robbing a Missoula casino on Friday evening and then firing shots as he was being chased by patrons has been charged with attempted murder and robbery.

56-year-old Stephen James Antill is charged with attempted deliberate homicide, robbery and criminal endangerment.

Missoula Police say Antill entered the Nickel Ante Casino Friday night around 8:30 p.m. wearing a black ski mask over his head.

Police say the defendant walked up cash register and pointed a handgun at a casino employee, demanding money. The cashier gave Antill the cash and he exited the casino.

Police say a casino patron followed the suspect outside. Antill is accused of shooting at the patron three times. The patron was in between the casino and the defendant during the gun fire.

All three rounds missed the patron, but the rounds impacted the building. Police apprehended Antill a short time later.  In court documents, Antill admitted to police he fired his gun.
