Missoula City council supports $15 million open space bond

Posted

MISSOULA – The Missoula City Council has approved supporting a proposed $15 million open space bond in conjunction with Missoula County.

The council voted 9-to-1 on Monday evening in support of the proposed open space bond. Councilman Jesse Ramos opposed the motion.

It will now go to the Missoula county commissioners to hold a public hearing. Pending the outcome of that public hearing, commissioners have until the end of the summer to place the bond issue on the November ballot.  A date for the public hearing has not be set.

The Council also passed a motion that would ask Mayor John Engen to work with the council to place a $500,000 stewardship and conservation mill levy request on the November ballot, that would go towards maintenance of the proposed open space.
