Lightning sparks numerous wildfires in Lincoln County

LIBBY – Nearly two dozen new wildfires were sparked from a lightning storm that passed over Lincoln County on the weekend.

The Kootenai National Forest has confirmed 20 new fires. Fourteen of the new lightning fires are between .10 and .25 acres in size.

The largest of the new starts is the Davis Fire which has burned 150 acres. Officials are now looking at possible road closures near the blaze.

Meanwhile, the Feeder Fire is currently at 22 acres and the Porcupine Fire currently at 12 acres.

The fire danger in Lincoln County remains listed at "very high." Additionally, Stage I Fire Restrictions are in effect on the Kootenai National Forest.
