LIVINGSTON- Searchers are looking for a 39-year-old Michigan man reported missing Monday in the Crazy Mountains near Cave Lake.
Park County Undersheriff Clay Herbst said in a Tuesday press release that the man had been volunteering with the Rocky Mountain Goat Alliance on a project with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks when he was back late from a hike at 10:20 p.m. Monday.
Deputies from Sweet Grass County confirmed the missing man’s vehicle was at the trailhead, and searchers from Park County and an infrared unit from Two Bear Air were called.
Tuesday morning, Park County Search and Rescue and other volunteers joined the search, which included two ground teams and Rocky Mountain Rotors. They did not find the man Tuesday.
The search will resume Wednesday, Herbst said. The terrain is rugged and remote, he added.
Authorities are contacting friends and family and haven’t released the man’s name.
