GLENDIVE- A 19-year-old Glendive mother is facing criminal charges of negligent homicide in Dawson County following the death of her 2-year-old son.
Ashley Howard will make her first court appearance Aug. 21st in district court in Glendive. Her son died June 26 after he was left overnight in a hot car.
The child’s grandfather, who initially reported the incident to deputies, reported multiple incidents when Howard left her son in a car during hot temperatures.
Prosecutors alleged in court documents provided to Q2 News Thursday the child was left in a vehicle overnight from Monday, June 25 to the morning of June 26.
On June 26, he was flown to Billings from Glendive with a body temperature of 107 degrees, but at that time, the child was already brain dead and not expected to survive.
Shortly after, the child was removed from life support at St. Vincent Healthcare, according to court documents.
Howard is being held at the Dawson County jail on $100,000 bond.
