MISSOULA – One person suffered minor injuries in an early Friday morning fire.

The blaze hit Farside Signs on South Avenue West just after 2:45 a.m. and caused an estimated $175,000 in damages.

Missoula City Fire Chief Jeff Brandt says firefighters arrived at 1526 South Avenue West to find flames coming out of the basement and extending up the outside of the building and into some nearby trees.

Brandt says that two people living in the basement of the building escaped the blaze with one of them being treated for a minor injury at the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Missoula City Fire Department, the Missoula Police Department, NorthWestern Energy and Missoula Emergency Services all responded to the scene.
