MISSOULA – The man accused of striking and killing a recent University of Montana graduate will now face a new charge of vehicular homicide while under the influence.
Daniel Grady, 26, is accused of striking and killing 22-year-old Rebecca Romero on June 17.
Police say Grady fled the scene after the crash. When they discovered him and his pickup they obtained a search warrant to test Grady’s blood for drugs and alcohol.
Court documents say that Grady’s blood sample tested positive for cocaine, Valium and marijuana.
According to court documents, the test was conducted about 7.5 hours after the crash and detected no alcohol in Grady’s bloodstream, but video evidence shows Grady having multiple drinks throughout the night at several establishments around Missoula.
Grady is scheduled to appear for an omnibus hearing Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in front of Judge Leslie Halligan in Missoula County District Court.
