Acting EPA chief to visit Butte, Anaconda Superfund sites

BUTTE – Acting U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler will travel to the Butte-Anaconda Superfund Sites this Friday, according to the office Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT). .

A head of the EPA has not visited the Superfund since Administrator William Reilly came in 1990 by invitation of former U.S. Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT).

Local and state officials including Chief Executives Dave Palmer and Bill Everett will also visit the sites as well as Superfund Activist Fritz Daily.

After touring the sites, Wheeler will hold meetings with local stakeholders. These meetings are not open to the public but will be open to the media.
