MISSOULA – The Missoula City Council is clearing the way for a public hearing on a proposed annexation involving thousands of acres of lands, one of the largest such moves in decades.
Missoula leaders are looking at a plan to annex over 3,200 acres of land including Missoula International Airport, the Missoula Industrial Park and Canyon Creek Village.
City officials have said much of the zoning would remain the same as it does in the county, but there are some changes such as an “aviation district” to cover airport operations.
DeSmet School leaders expressed concerns at a meeting last week about conflicts between zoning for limited and industrial zoning.
The Missoula City Council voted unanimously, with three members absent, on Monday night to allow the proposal to proceed to a public hearing on December 10.
