BOZEMAN – Bozeman School District Superintendent Dr. Robert Watson is one of the three finalists for the superintendent position with Missoula County Public Schools (MCPS).

Mark Thane, the current MCPS superintendent, is retiring at the end of the school year. Watson is the only finalist from Montana.

Candidate Jan Haven is a Director of Instructional Leadership for Milwaukee Public Schools in Wisconsin.

Dr. David Baugh, the third candidate, is Superintendent of Public Schools for the Centennial School District in Warminster, Pennsylvania.

Watson previously served as middle school principal for MCPS from 2001 until 2005, when he became the principal of Sentinel High School in Missoula.

He then served as the principal at Bozeman High School beginning in 2009 before being promoted to Superintendent in 2012.

Watson currently oversees 11 schools and about 7,000 students in the Bozeman School District.

MCPS trustees have interviews scheduled with all three candidates on Thursday. Following the interviews, there is a meet-and-greet with the public.

Once the meet-and-greet concludes, the board will meet for a special meeting at 8 p.m. to make its decision.
