NORTH OF LAKESIDE- A head-on collision of two vehicles on U.S. Highway 93 near Lakeside shut down all lanes of traffic Wednesday afternoon.
The Montana Department of Transportation reports the accident happened at 3:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 93 three miles north of Lakeside in Flathead County.
Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Hawkins tells MTN News that a dump truck was traveling southbound on US Highway 93 and a black pick-up truck was traveling northbound.
Trooper Hawkins reports for unknown reasons, the pick-up truck drifted into the dump truck’s lane. The dump truck swerved attempting to avoid the pick-up truck but was unable to, hitting the truck head-on.
Four people in the pick-up truck were all wearing seat belts and the dump truck driver was not hurt in the accident.
Trooper Watkins said there are no life-threatening injuries. He added that speed and alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the crash.
MHP is continuing to investigate the accident and traffic is significantly backed up in the area.
