MISSOULA: Wildlife biologists report there is at least one black bear looking for food in the Rattlesnake neighborhood
FWP reports bears are accessing garbage in the Rattlesnake.
They urge residents to contain all attractants in a bear-resistant manner and do not put garbage out until the morning of pick up.
Animal Control is patrolling for garbage ordinance violations. FWP asks residents to carry bear spray and know how to use it when recreating in bear country.
FWP reports bears are getting into garbage in the Potomac, Bitterroot, Mill Creek, Lolo and Grant Creek areas.
It is critical residents heed these suggestions to prevent bear encounters.
