Volunteers in Butte have been making hundreds of handcrafted bowls for a charity event set for this spring.

More than 30 volunteers made clay bowls by hand at the Butte High art department that will be sold at the annual Empty Bowls fund-raiser in April that raises money for the emergency food bank and the backpack program that provides food for needy students. Volunteers say the enjoy making bowls for such a good cause.

“I love the feeling of clay, it's very relaxing to me and I love the feeling of accomplishment when I make better bowls, just improving my skill over it that's why I do this,” said Judy Andrews.

This year’s empty bowls event will be held April 1st at the Butte Civic Center.
