19 more test positive for COVID-19 at Billings care center

Nineteen more people associated with the Canyon Creek Memory Care assisted living facility have tested positive for COVID-19, RiverStone Health announced Friday afternoon.

The positive cases include nine staff members and 10 residents.

The care home has had 91 people test positive for coronavirus -- 36 employees and 55 residents.

Five residents have died from COVID-19-related illness.

These 19 new cases were among the 46 new cases reported in Yellowstone County Friday morning by the state of Montana.

Billings, MT – As of 3:00 p.m. today, an additional 19 people associated with Canyon Creek Memory Care have tested positive for COVID-19. The 19 include nine staff members and ten residents. These 19 individuals are among the 54 Yellowstone County residents that were reflected on the state of Montana COVID-19 case map today, July 10.

These newly reported positive individuals bring the total number of people associated with the Canyon Creek COVID-19 outbreak to 91– 36 employees and 55 residents.

Of those 19 people testing positive, seven previously had tested negative for COVID-19, seven people had tests that were either unsatisfactory or inconclusive and five people were newly tested.

Since Monday, July 6, five Canyon Creek residents have sadly passed away. There are currently four Canyon Creek residents in Yellowstone County hospitals.

RiverStone Health, as well as the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, continues to be in close contact with Canyon Creek Memory Care assisting in the ongoing management of the outbreak.
