POLSON — Concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic have prompted the cancellation of one of the summer's most popular events in the Mission Valley.

The Polson Business Community has announced that they are calling off this year's Flathead Lake Cherry Festival.

The festival is one of the largest community events in the Mission Valley every year, drawing thousands of sample the tasty Flathead cherries and enjoy time along the shores of Flathead Lake.

"We understand the immense disappointment as we feel it as well, but the UNCONTROLLABLE circumstances leave no choice," the Polson Business Community noted in a social media post.

This year's event had been scheduled for July 18 and July 19.
