POLSON — Lake County commissioners voted on Tuesday to keep the county's mask mandate in place at least for 30 more days.

The motion to extend Lake County's state of emergency, which was first adopted in March 2020, was meant to help keep the Mission Valley's COVID-19 active case count low.

"Presently, Covid-19 infections are trending downward and although the science of masking is controversial, it does appear that the combination of masking, hand washing, and social distancing practices has helped slow the spread of Covid-19,” the commissioners stated in a news release.

“Lake County Public Health appreciates our community's vested interest in the topic and would like to thank everyone in the community for their continued diligence (wearing a mask, hand washing, physically distancing and staying home when sick),” a social media post reads.
