HAMILTON — The expected approval of a COVID-19 vaccine has raised questions about logistics and distribution.

Health officials with Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital say they’ll be looking to Rocky Mountain Labs for some support.

The lab, located in Hamilton, will be loaning Marcus Daly some of its ultra-cold freezers to store COVID vaccines.

Information for vaccine distribution is currently limited, but here’s what we do know for people in Ravalli County.

Marcus Daly anticipates their first allotment of the vaccine to arrive in late December.

The hospital could receive one of two vaccines, either from Pfizer -- which requires two doses – or the Moderna vaccine, which only requires one dose.

Marcus Daly will only be allowed to vaccinate essential, front-line healthcare workers during the initial supply of the vaccine.

The hospital anticipates being able to vaccinate members of the general public in late spring or early summer.

It was recently announced that Community Medical Center and Saint Patrick Hospital will be among the first in Montana to receive a COVID-19 vaccine once it's approved.
