TULARE COUNTY, CA – The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office in California says the Sherri Telnas, 45, allegedly attempted to drown her two sons Saturday morning.

She had also tried to kill one of her sons 11 years ago in Western Montana. That incident took place in Mineral
County in April of 2008 when police say Telnas tried to drown her 10-month-old son in the Clark Fork River.

According to an article posted by the Billings Gazette back in 2009, Telnas took the baby to Mineral Community
Hospital in Superior and when he arrived he had water in his lungs.

Telnas pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal endangerment and was sentenced to 20 years with the
Department of Health and Human Services due to mental health issues after the 2008 incident.

Now 11 years later that same son is the boy who’s dead after Telnas allegedly drowned him in an Irrigation ditch on Saturday morning.

Her other son — who is seven years old — remains in critical condition at Valley Children’s Hospital after police said Telnas attempted to drown him as well.

The Sheriff’s Office said investigators are aware of the mother’s criminal history. Telnas faces four felonies from Saturday’s incident — including murder and attempted murder.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said investigators are aware of the mother’s criminal history and are working with multiple agencies to confirm all the details.
